Our Team:

Barb Blakemore, M.Sc., R.Psych.
Barb Blakemore is a Registered Psychologist who has worked in the Calgary community since 1978. She obtained her training at the University of Calgary and has worked at both the Alberta Children's Hospital and the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. She has had an active clinical practice for a number of years dealing with a vast range of problems including anxiety, stress, attention deficits, and learning difficulties. She has conducted numerous training events for mental health professionals. Barb currently shares her expertise with this practice in the role of consultant. Her love of what she does comes through in her ongoing committment to supporting the maintaince of the highest standard of practice.

Michele Fercho, Psy.D., R.Psych., Director
Dr. Fercho is a clinical psychologist who has been practicing since 1991. She received her education in Cincinnati, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky. Originally from Calgary, she has relocated back to the area. She has worked at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, and specializes in assessment and treatment of families and children dealing with externalizing problems such as attention and oppositionality. She is currently involved in several research projects looking at specific learning difficulties within the A-D/HD population, and occasionally speaks to pediatricians and family doctors in the area about helping their patients manage oppositional behaviours. She also specializes in helping couples resolve conflict and works with individuals in the difficult areas of depression, grief and loss.

Bob Acton, Ph.D., R.Psych.
A consultant to this practice, Dr. Acton is a Clinical Psychologist who has been working in the field since 1981. He obtained his training at the University of Saskatchewan and has worked for a number of well-known facilities, including the Alberta Children's Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital. He has a particular interest in anxiety disorders. He has published a number of professional articles and has been an active trainer of psychologists and allied mental health practitioners. He has worked with individuals assisting them with managing a number of emotions such as anxiety, anger and sadness and he has been a forensic expert in courts in Alberta. He is actively consulting and coaching to corporations and independent businesses.

Petrina Hough, Ph.D., R.Psych.
Dr. Hough is a Registered Psychologist who has been practicing in Alberta for five years. She received her training at the University of Alberta and has worked in both clinical mental health and school settings. Petrina has a wealth of knowledge and experience with assessing children, and she specializes in the assessment and treatment of children with learning and behavioral issues, as well as . She also has expertise in the treatment of Attachment Disorders, Anxiety, and Depression.

Peter Hansen, M.Sc., R. Psych.
Peter is a Registered Psychologist with 19 years of experience in Alberta. He has great interest and experience in working with depression, anxiety, and addictions. He is experienced with both workplace and family matters. His knowledgeable and thoughtful approach is always appreciated.

Sandy Hammink, Office Manager
Sandy brings to our office a level of organization, competence and warmth that ensures we met our goal of offering the highest level of service. Sandy's knowledgeable and supportive voice is the first one you hear when you contact our office and she is available to answer your questions.

Clinical Fee Structure:
Our current fees are in line with the recommended rate of the Psychologists' Association of Alberta and the current rate for psychological services for individual treatment or assessment is $170.00 per hour. Couple sessions and family sesisons are billed at the rate of $180.00 per hour. These fees are not covered by Alberta Health Care but most private supplemental health insurance plans (like you may have through your employer) frequently cover a portion of the fees (actual amounts vary from plan to plan). You also may be able to receive funding through your employer's Employee Assistance Plan (EAP or EAFP) if they have one available. We are affiliate providers to some EAPs. Please contact our office to determine whether this is an option for you. Our office accepts cash, cheques, debit, Mastercard or VISA.
